Welcome to the Dan River Campground. Dan River Campground has new owners and we want to welcome you to our campground!
Dan River Campground offers a serene and quiet camping experience on the Dan River.
Nick and Anne Soudas are your hosts.
The Dan River Campground has a family atmosphere with peace and quiet being the norm, however, we also want to encourage campers to have fun and enjoy the beautiful outdoors of North Carolina. We welcome all campers to come and visit our campground.
Dan River Campground began river trips in 1993 with 2 canoes, 6 float tubes and a pickup truck. Today, Dan River Campground and River Adventures books water adventures on the Dan River. We have more than 200 commercial float tubes as well as a combination of 30 canoes / kayaks. The commercial float tubes are big and roomy for a comfortable float and also have a beverage holder and backrest.
Reservations are recommended due to the high volume of people between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
The Dan River Campground and River Adventures private river access is not open for public use, it is for guests of the Dan River Campground and River Adventures only. If you are not a guest, you are trespassing.
Violators will be removed from the property promptly.
We have a total of 46 camping sites. 28 RV sites have full hookups (electric, water and sewer) and 9 RV sites with partial hookups (electric and water, no sewer). 4 tent sites have electric and water hookups and 5 tent sites are "primative" (no hookups) and offer more privacy.
A centrally located bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets is convenient to all campsites.
Inside each men's and woman's bathroom is a coin operated washer and dryer for your convenience.
Each site has a picnic table. All sites have a fire ring. Marked trails make a loop around the campground, and for over a mile, you see views of beautiful trees / woods, Dan River and Sharp's Creek. Walk quietly and you will be able to sneak up on the abundant wild life including rabbit, otter, beaver, turkey, deer, ground hogs and herons. Along the way you will pass the river access point. There are fish in the pond and you can do some catch and release fishing there. There are a variety of fish species in the river for those who can wade in or navigate the sometimes steep bank.
Canoe, kayak and tubing adventures depart from the campground. If you have your own boat, our river access point is available (to launch your own boat) to campers at no charge. We have a 20 x 40 flat bottom pool that is 4 feet deep and open Memorial Day to Labor Day. You can play volleyball, frisbee, ping pong, corn hole or throw horseshoes at the campground or just sit around and enjoy the outdoors. WiFi is available at no charge with the daily camping rate. Please ask for the password.
Bringing pets to the campground is a privilege extended to pet owners. There is a two pet limit. Unfortunately, rotweilers and pit bull breeds are not allowed, and if you know your pet to be, in any way unfriendly to anybody, please leave it at home. Pets must be quiet and on a leash everywhere in the campground and when your dog poops you are expected to scoop :) Pets may not be left unattended (even if on a leash).
We have a newly remodeled general store with gifts, ice, ice cream, snacks, firewood, propane and camping supplies. We fill propane tanks including built in tanks on motor homes and fork lift tanks. A Super Walmart is conveniently located 3.5 miles from the campground.
